about

This was a concept i had brewing around my head for a while, without giving away too much i wanted to do a track where the first chorus described a trivial situation and as the track unfolded you saw sinister reasons for that trivial situation. Get me? I remember I wrote this in the same session as Keep On Dancing, one saturday night. I love this track because i got to stretch out a bit on the production, you will see at the end.

lyrics

Chorus
They say she wears way too much make up
she's got that over the top fake look
But her man don't seem to mind
So nobody is intruding
That's way too much make up
she's got that over the top fake look
But her man don't seem to mind
So nobody is intruding

Verse
She's like 22, went to school with her
Peer pressure put a bit of attitude in her
Now she's miss thing
She was too thin for me
but a crew member liked her look
said that she was beautiful coz she distinctive
I introduced them, theyre in sync with each other
like sister and brother, like kids to their mothers
like kissin your lover and kissin they did
real passionate, couldn't wait to christen her bed
and it was criss in her head, she had it all worked out
but she was bout to learn what happened when the fire burns out
coz although she had her flame lit
they wasnt on the same wick
basically he was on some game shit
so she gave an ultimatem, and he liked the fact she took control
so he stepped his game up, moved out of his mother's home
got a bedsit together, thinkin they was living better
but she never could predict what came next
one morning when she went to check the post she noticed this letter
it was addressed to her man, from his ex
she said "how does she know where we live?
did you give her our address and if you did,
WHY!!??" I thought we'd been through this
I been foolish, clearly you didnt
change a damn thing when you moved in
The fued went into the wee hours of the night
until he couldn't take the pressure and he started up a fight
he hit her with a right, silenced her with shock
so she rushed up to the phone, started dialling up the cops
she stopped after pressing two 9's and then she dropped
the reciever, when she could see the violence just erupt
in his eyes, and he beat her to sleep
she weeped through the night and the weeks went on by
he creeped with his mistress, he kept his distance
he defeated her self esteem til it seemed non existant
then he went back just to clean up the mess
make false promises up and releave her of stress
why couldn't he leave her instead?
it isn't fair, and i swear no-one knows
but they say she wear...

CHORUS
Way too much make up
she got that over the top fake look
but her man don't seem to mind
so nobody is improving
when are we gonna wake up
coz everytime that they break up
she applies that extra layer
so nobody sees the bruising
